Where Self-Worth Begins
Low Self Esteem is probably what I work with the most. As adults, we don’t always consider how early life and adolescent experiences impact us now.
People will often be dismissive of things that happened in their childhood, saying it was ‘normal’ for that time. Things might have been ‘normal’, but that does not mean it didn’t have an adverse effect on you. As an example, you might have had parents who were not present, perhaps because they had to work a lot.
As an adult, this makes complete sense as to why they were not around much. But as a child, you did not have the ability to understand why they were not present. All you noticed, is that they were not around much. This might have meant you wondered why this was, and as a child, begun considering if it was because of something you did.
